A home’s energy efficiency is measured through a series of tests and inspections that evaluate how properly sealed, airtight, and thermally aligned it is. These tests provide homeowners valuable insight into their home’s energy consumption. Once the tests are completed, Moxie Diagnostic and Remodel, LLC can offer recommendations and further services on how to improve your home’s energy consumption.
Energy Code
Blower Door Test
A test designed to measure the air filtration rate and airtightness of a home which helps identify air leakage problems.
With our equipment, we depressurize the home to determine how much air infiltration the home is affected by.
Duct Leakage Test
A test designed to measure the air-tightness of the air conditioning distribution assembly.
With our equipment we’ll run a total leakage test which will show you how much total air is escaping from your air handler/duct system.
Air Balancing Test
Air balancing ensures your home delivers the “right” amount of air to each room. Air balancing has an impact on the energy efficiency of a home and it’s comfort.
With our equipment we measure the airflow being distributed and the pressures under the balanced load to ensure a proper balance.
At the end of these tests and inspections we can show you where your home is on the HERS index, if it meets your area’s energy code, and how to improve your home’s energy consumption.
Thermal Bypass Inspection
Thermal Bypass Inspections
A Thermal Bypass Inspection is a preliminary inspection before the sheetrock is installed. A standardized checklist is abided by to ensure uniformity and consistency. This is essential to eliminate mistakes that will be burdensome to correct later and mandatory for energy modeling.
Thermal Imaging
Thermal imaging is valuable in troubleshooting problem areas non-invasively. Homes can be easily scanned for the lack of insulation, sheetrock covering A/C buckets, moisture issues, and many more problems.
